Getting Started

How do I know if my child could benefit from occupational therapy?

If everyday activities feel harder for your child or your family, a free consultation can help you talk through your concerns and see whether occupational therapy may be a good fit. A diagnosis is not required.

What ages do you work with?

PEAK works with children from birth to age 18.

Does my child need a referral to start?

Sessions

Where do therapy sessions take place?

Sessions can happen at home, out in the community, or at school, wherever fits your child best.

What can I expect during the first appointment?

An initial occupational therapy evaluation takes 60 to 90 minutes. We get to know your child’s strengths, needs, and routines through observation, play-based activities, and clinical assessment. There is time for your questions.

What signs might be associated with retained primitive reflexes?

When early movement patterns persist, they may be associated with challenges in balance, coordination, posture, attention, regulation, or handwriting. These signs can have many causes, and an occupational therapy evaluation helps look at the whole picture.
